About UsHorse Jumping

The riding school is owned and run by Claire Byrne who is a BHSII and EFI Level 1 instructor.  Growing up with horses made me one of the lucky ones and in the riding school we try and give people who may never own their own horse the chance to be as hands on as possible.  For people with their own horse we try and help them with any problems they may incur along the way.

We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.  We do late lessons on a Thursday evening to cater for working adults and parents. All year round.

Lessons can be in dressage, jumping or cross country.  For beginners or advanced we can do half and half which is a lesson for half an hour and then a ride out for half an hour so even if a beginner we can lead you to view the local area which is most enjoyable from horse back.  We also do lessons in stable management which gives the rider knowledge of handling and looking after the horses, which I find brings on a nervous rider and helps build a bond with the horse or pony you ride.  Activities include pony club games party evenings, beach rides.  Private or group cross country schooling can be arranged on cross country courses.  Preparation for pony club tests and BHS exams.  Work experience opportunities available for interested transition year students.

We also run camps which run during school holidays and the groups range from beginner to advanced matching people with a suited level it is 3 days of riding and stable management.  One of the camp days we do a long ride out again suited to your ability.  To check out camp dates it is best to ring or contact me directly (Contact: Claire Byrne (087) 6800919).  It is a great opportunity to learn and improve your riding skill base and make some new friends.

Facilities available are 9 stables bedded on sawdust and shavings mix, wash and clipping bay, fully secured tack room, feed room, woodchip turn out and grass turn out.  35m x 40m flood light sand arena with cross country jumps in adjoining field and full set of show jumps. 20m circular lunge ring.  With viewing area, changing room and tea and coffee facilities.  We have use of local gallops within hacking distance from the yard and local river full accessible by horse!  Livery available.  Hot and cold shoeing available.

We run 2 show jumping competitions a year which give non horse owners a chance to compete on the horse they get on the best with.  This helps build confidence and gives riders something to aim for.  Naturally if you have your own horse you are welcome to compete.  This year we hope to run our 1st dressage show also.
